Ingredients

Turkey Filling

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • ½ small onion minced
  • 2 tablespoons bell pepper minced
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ 8-ounce can tomato sauce

For Serving

Instructions

Prepare the Vegetables and Wrappers

  • Mince the onion and bell pepper. If using iceberg lettuce leaves, dry them well. Set out tortillas if using them instead.
1/2 small onion, 2 tablespoons bell pepper, 8 large leaves iceberg lettuce, tortillas

Brown and Season the Turkey

  • Brown the ground turkey in a large skillet. When no pink remains, add the garlic powder, cumin, salt, chili powder, paprika, and oregano. Mix well, then confirm the turkey reaches 165°F.
590 grams ground turkey, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon ground cumin, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Simmer the Taco Filling

  • Add the onion, bell pepper, water, and tomato sauce. Cover and simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes.
3/4 cup water, 1/2 8-ounce can tomato sauce

Choose a Wrapper and Serve

  • Spoon the warm filling into thoroughly dried lettuce leaves or tortillas and serve promptly.

Notes

Dry lettuce leaves thoroughly before filling them. They can be less tidy to hold, while tortillas provide a sturdier alternative.
