This creamy clam chowder with ham combines potatoes, minced clams, a butter-flour roux, and milk in a thick stovetop soup.
Whole milk, half-and-half, or canned milk may be used. When cooking fresh clams, use 1 1/2 cups reserved clam nectar instead of the jar of clam juice. The cornstarch slurry is optional for a thicker chowder.
